Internship
Victory Valley Internship/Gap Year Program
Victory Valley Camp Exists to Ignite a Passion for Jesus
By Training the Leaders of Tomorrow Through Christian Camping Today
The Victory Valley Internship Program is designed to train men and women who are in between phases in life to focus themselves towards using their lives for God’s glory, whether that be in a career, ministry, missions, camp, or anywhere else God leads them.
In the course of this 15-month program, our aim is to assist interns as they discover and refine their passions, their talents, and how to use these for the Kingdom of God. This is done through a comprehensive spiritual, mental, and experiential training program:
- Spiritual: Laying a foundation to have a heart, mind, and willing spirit to pursue what God is calling them to do. Through biblical study, relational discipleship, and interactions with those in ministry, we look to equip interns with the tools to understand and follow what God is calling them to.
- Mental: Instruction from Victory Valley staff, local ministers, and professionals in the intern’s field of study. Interns will learn new information and sharpen their knowledge in fields of study ranging from biblical topics to specialized knowledge in their track.
- Experiential: Service through Victory Valley camps, programs, and offseason help. Interns will be hands-on in everything from weekly maintenance to leadership of camp programs.
Internship Tracks
Interns will choose one of the following tracks:
- General Ministry: This track is for those who feel called into ministry, but are unsure of what they need to do to move forward. Should you get a degree? Go to seminary? Go overseas? Stay in a secular career and use your current degree? This track looks to help you understand your passions, giftings, and how to use these to find what God is calling you to do, whether it is in ministry or not.
- Camp Ministry: Interns in this track will work closely with our Program Director to understand what it looks like to serve in Camping Ministry. Topics of study specialized for this track include discipleship of staff and curriculum development.
- Discipleship and Leadership: Interns in this track will work closely with our Director as they refine their skills in shepherding others. Whether for a pastoral ministry or a secular career that oversees people, this track is meant to cultivate interns to lead groups of all sizes and kinds. Topics of study specialized for this track include leadership development and discipleship in a variety of contexts.
- Missions: Interns in this track feel called to the unreached and lost, and want to know how they can get to them. Whether it is a calling to remote villages on other continents, urban cities around the world, or to those who live next door, we want to grow interns’ understanding of how God is moving in all the world to call others to Him. Specialized topics in this track are evangelism techniques and world missions.
- Media: Media interns will assist Victory Valley in development and maintenance of various forms of media including social media, marketing, website, video development, and pictures. In the summers, this role acts as our Media Team Coordinator, leading media staff as they take pictures and videos of campers, edit this media, post it online for parents, and use it for promotional materials.
- Culinary: Culinary interns will work closely with Victory Valley’s Head Cook. During the summer, they will work as assistant cooks in the kitchen while camp is running, and in the offseason they will assist in hosting retreats that require us to cook meals. Culinary interns will not only sharpen their skills in the kitchen, they will also gain experience in facets of food service such as ordering food from a supplier and leading a team of kitchen workers.
How to Apply and Requirements
Interns must be a professing Christian whose life displays the fruit of the Spirit and a willingness to go where God leads. They must be active members of a bible-believing church, and willing and able to regularly attend their church or another local church during the course of the internship.
Interns must be at least 18 years old and have some experience or interest in the fields of camp ministry, pastoral ministry, media, culinary arts, ministry education, worship ministry, or a general interest in serving in ministry.
Interns must have or be able to obtain the clearances and training required for interaction with children as required by Pennsylvania law and Victory Valley Camp’s requirements. If applicants do not have such clearances, information will be provided on how to obtain these clearances.
All interns will be expected to attempt Victory Valley’s annual Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course. (In cases where applicants cannot attempt the course, such as intense fear of water or a disability that prevents course participation, exceptions for this requirement will be made)
Applicants can apply online using the same process as a Summer Missionary Application. To apply, simply select the Internship role on your application. If you are an existing or former staff member, you can apply here. Those who are new to Victory Valley can create a staff account here. Please keep in mind that if you are applying for the internship, this is a different and more involved process than becoming a Summer Missionary. Because of this, we ask that you only apply for the Internship position on your application.
Potential interns will submit their applications prior to the beginning of the summer camp season, preferably in the springtime. They will be subject to interviews with both the Director and Program Director, and possibly with others who will be helping to lead and mentor them.
Openings are limited, and not all positions will be filled.
